Wendy Whittington, MD, MMM

Wendy Whittington, MD, MMM, is an expert in translating clinical processes and the policies that govern healthcare into tangible business results. She has twenty years of experience practicing medicine in the outpatient and inpatient settings. While continuing to practice medicine, Dr. Whittington has served as “physician champion” for many efforts to bring the profession into the digital age including opening a “wireless, paperless primary care site” in 2002 and leading medical staffs in the adoption of inpatient clinical information systems. Dr. Whittington has been a thought leader in the development of Health Information Exchanges and writes and lectures on that topic and other current health policy issues. As a former academic generalist and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Vermont, Dr. Whittington enjoys taking current issues in health policy and technology and presenting them to physicians and health care executives in the context of their respective worlds.
Dr. Whittington has served in the community hospital setting as Vice President for Medical Affairs, Chief Medical Information Officer and Chief Information Officer, Vice President for Information Technology. She has served as Medical Director for Child Advocacy Centers and Technology start up companies and has extensive experience working with technology teams to translate clinical workflows into electronic records. She has spearheaded efforts to create clinical documentation improvement programs and has worked with medical staffs to help them understand how their everyday clinical work is captured as quality data for reporting purposes and as financial data for reimbursement purposes. In the era of increasing awareness of the importance of quality and safety in medicine while reimbursement for services is crucial for hospitals, it is imperitive that the C-suite and physicians understand each other and create processes that benefit physicians, health care systems and most importantly, patients. Dr. Whittington compliments the team at Anthelio as they assist our clients in offering HIM services, IT outsourcing, eHealth and Clinical Informatics services. She speaks publicly on
