County
Hospital Engages PHNS for Revenue Cycle Improvement
DALLAS, July 13,
2006 – Tuolumne General Hospital of Sonora, California has
signed an innovative agreement to have PHNS manage all aspects
of the hospital’s revenue cycle. PHNS will be responsible for
Tuolumne’s admissions, registration, medical records and
health information management, selected information
technology, and billing and collection functions. PHNS was
selected after an extensive public Request for Proposals (RFP)
process.
Barry Woerman,
Tuolumne General Hospital CEO, said, “The county, the hospital
and PHNS have entered into a long-term relationship that will
allow the hospital to focus on its healthcare mission while
PHNS works with the county and hospital to improve the
hospital’s revenue cycle process and to ensure the hospital’s
financial well being”. Mr. Woerman added, “We selected PHNS
because of its strong hospital services expertise, and its
ability to provide local services while drawing on its depth
and infrastructure as a national provider of information
technology, health information management and business office
services to over 400 healthcare providers”.
“This is an
exciting and innovative example of how PHNS can assist a
community hospital in improving its financial and
infrastructure resources, and to provide the stability it has
long sought, but could not afford, as a stand-alone hospital”,
said Chick Young, Chairman of the Board and CEO of PHNS.
“PHNS will utilize expertise from all of its existing service
lines and infrastructure to provide Tuolumne General Hospital
with the same resources, best practices, depth of expertise
and automated infrastructure as billion dollar healthcare
providers have,” said Mr. Young.
