About UMC and LSU Health Care Services Division: Louisiana State University Health Care Services Division (LSU HCSD) consists of eight hospitals throughout the State of Louisiana. It provides quality medical care to residents of Louisiana, regardless of income or insurance coverage; and it provides for the State's medical and clinical education needs, thereby ensuring all Louisianans the availability of well-trained health professionals. UMC offers Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and Interventional Radiology in addition to the primary care services it provides. Since the closure of various hospitals in New Orleans, UMC has acquired the services of a transplant surgeon, and renal and pancreas transplants are performed on appropriate candidates.
