Kent Smith
Chief Technology Officer

Kent Smith has 23 years in the Information Technology industry. During his 17 years in technology management he has held a number of positions in Software Development, Network Management, Technical Customer Service and Research and Development.

Kent spent the first eight years of his career working for EFTS, MTech and EDS in software development and software development management in the electronic funds transfer and electronic benefits transfer businesses.

At PHNS, Smith manages PHNS’ Medical Records Coding application development team and Electronic Medical Records technical support team. Smith’s qualifications include system management of network and PC services, help desk and service desk management for outsourcing and EFT clients, service management for desktop outsourcing clients and Internet hosting clients. Smith is responsible for desktop outsourcing and Internet hosting business. Smith oversees PHNS’ corporate headquarters network and administration and its corporate systems, including financial and human resources.

Before PHNS, Smith spent eight years as the Vice President of Desktop Services for Affiliated Computer Services ("ACS") in Dallas and five years as the manager of EBT systems. He managed a network and desktop staff of 42, who serviced desktops, servers and network infrastructure and produced $10 million in revenue. His staff included engineers, project managers, network architects, application developers, desktop technicians, and help desk specialists. He was responsible for full life cycle of client engagement, including sales support, cost modeling, due diligence, contract negotiation and services fulfillment.

In 1989, he joined ACS to manage software development for the electronic benefits transfer business. When ACS decided to curtail their involvement in the benefits distribution business in 1991 he moved into the Technology Outsourcing Division. There as executive vice president he managed the startup of ACS' Desktop and LAN outsourcing business as well as ACS' internal LAN.

In May of 2001 he joined PHNS as Senior Director of Technology involved in the oversight of the corporate systems and PHNS' general technology strategies.
