Kent Smith

Chief Technology Officer

Kent Smith has served as PHNS Chief Technology Officer (CTO) since 2006 and, prior to that, he was PHNS' Senior Director of Corporate Systems beginning in 2000.  At PHNS, Mr. Smith currently has responsibility for the Portfolio Review Board (PRB) which manages the process of developing and implementing new and innovative solutions for PHNS' broad range of end-to-end IT, BPO and advanced clinical healthcare services.  Additionally, he provides management for PHNS' information security services and technology direction.  He oversees PHNS' corporate headquarters network and its administration as well as its corporate systems, including financial and human resources.

As PHNS' Senior Director of Corporate Systems, he played a significant role in the selection and implementation of numerous infrastructure systems for PHNS including human resources, financial, enterprise management and service management.  Mr. Smith has 27 years of IT management experience that includes application management, system management, network management, desktop management and service desk management for outsourcing and remote hosted clients.  

Prior to working at PHNS, he joined Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) in 1989 to manage software development for the EBT business.  While at ACS, Mr. Smith managed various organizations within the Technology Outsourcing Division.  From 1996 to 2000, he served as Executive Vice President of Desktop Services, where he lead the startup of ACS' desktop and LAN outsourcing business, as well as managing ACS' internal LAN.  Also at ACS, he led a network and desktop staff of 42, who serviced desktops, servers and network infrastructure and produced $10 million in revenue.  His staff included engineers, project managers, network architects, application developers, desktop technicians, and help desk specialists.  Mr. Smith was responsible for the full life cycle of client engagement, including sales support, cost modeling, due diligence, contract negotiation and services fulfillment.

From 1981 to 1989, Mr. Smith worked as a software developer and software manager for Commodity News Services (a Knight-Ridder company), EFTS inc., and MTech.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Technology from the University of South Florida.
