Kathy Baikie Named Director of Human Resources for Provider HealthNet Services
01/29/2001Kathy Baikie has been named director of human resources for Provider HealthNet Services (PHNS), one of the fastest growing and largest providers of information technology, medical record, coding and transcription outsourcing services to the healthcare industry. The primary focus of PHNS is to provide healthcare systems with the ability to utilize information technology and medical record services as a strategic enabler, improving services while reducing costs through aggregation, sharing “best practices” and standardization.
Baikie comes to PHNS with experience in the challenges of merging two giant utility and power companies — American Electric Power and Central and South West Services. Baikie led the HR Merger Support Team that evaluated the policies, programs and practices affecting the 23,000 employees, redesigning the HR department to maximize synergy savings.
“I was intrigued by the creative and innovative work that PHNS is doing in outsourcing IT and related healthcare services. When I looked at the background of the management team, I was impressed that they know how to do this and do it well,” said Baikie. “I see tremendous growth potential and wanted to be in on the ground floor of this exciting new company.”
“Kathy’s experience at CSW is a natural fit here at PHNS,” said Chick Young, co-founder and CEO of PHNS. “The skills needed to redesign a human resources department for a major company are the same that we need for a company that has grown more than 400% just in the past year. Kathy is helping us to develop the infrastructure to support our unique, highly skilled workforce.”
“The technology that PHNS has developed will allow the majority of our employees to live anywhere in the United States and work from their homes any time of the day or night,” said Baikie. “From a human resources perspective, this is a fascinating challenge because PHNS has created the future’s workforce environment today.”
